+ Gr: Greece: Regional unit of Kilkis, Municipality of Paeonias , central-eastern slopes of Mt Paiko near village of Karpi , 40°59'32.76"N, 22°24'33.52"E, 530 m, 7 May 2023, Doulkeridou & Ioannidis ( TAU, UPA, conf. A. Strid). – Vicia sparsiflora is new to the flora of GoogleMaps Greece. The species was described from S Italy and has subsequently been reported from scattered Italian localities ( Conti & al. 2005: 183) as well as SE Europe from Slovakia and Hungary and W Ukraine to S Serbia, North Macedonia and E Bulgaria (Euro + Med 2006+). It has been classified as endangered or vulnerable in Slovakia, Hungary and Romania. It resembles the Greek endemic V. pinetorum Boiss. & Spruner , which occurs in Greece in Attiki, Evvia, Andros and Naxos , but differs in the short calyx teeth and glabrous legumes. Another yellow-flowered species, V. ochroleuca Ten., occurs in Italy and the W Balkan Peninsula southward to NW Greece. It has 20–30-flowered racemes, smaller flowers and is glabrous throughout .
