Perisama dorbignyi jurinei (Guenée, 1872) View in CoL stat. rev.

Perisama jurinei View in CoL was described originally as Callicore jurinei View in CoL by Guenée (1872). It was later included in the genus Perisama View in CoL by Oberthür (1916). Lamas (2004) considered P. jurinei View in CoL as a subspecies of P. dorbignyi (Guérin-Ménéville, [1844]) View in CoL , whereas Attal & Crosson du Cormier (2010) reinstated its specific status. Perisama dorbignyi View in CoL is a widespread species, reported from Eastern and Western Cordillera in Colombia, eastern and southern Andean slopes in Ecuador and Peru and on eastern slopes of the Andes in Bolivia. Geographic and individual variation affects mostly the size of the red discal patch, however some differences can also be observed in the shape of the HWV lines, FWD metallic band shape and width of HWD ashen band ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 ). Our phylogenetic analysis based on molecular data show that P. jurinei View in CoL and P. dorbignyi View in CoL form a common clade with low genetic distances, below 1.5%. Since there are no significant differences in the morphology of male genitalia, including in the hypandrium ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ), and no evidence of the two species being sympatric, P. jurinei View in CoL is here considered as a subspecies of P. dorbignyi View in CoL .
