Subsect. 1. Cherleria (L.) McNeill
Plantas perennes. Hojas diminutas, muy estrechas, canaliculado-triquetras, algo aquilladas, carnositas. Flores poco vistosas, solitarias, polígamas por frecuente aborto del androceo o del gineceo. Sépalos oscuramente trinerves, no esclerificados, erectos en la antesis. Pétalos en general abortados o inconspicuos. Nectarios del disco perígino muy aparentes. Semillas lisas.
