Type species. Mutilla chilensis Spinola, 1851 (female, not male), by original designation (the male was misassociated according to Mickel, 1938: 57).
Taxonomic history. Senior subjective synonym of Reedia Ashmead, 1904 . Valid generic name.
Sex association. The male of the type species has not been recognized; the males of other species were associated and described by Ashmead, 1903: 325 and André, 1904c: 286.
Distribution. Neotropical.
