Type species. Mutilla fornasinii Gribodo, 1894 (female), by original designation.

Taxonomic history. Valid generic name.

Sex association. The male of the type species was associated and identified (as Pseudocephalotilla piliscapa (misspelled as piliscarpa) Bischoff, 1921: 517) by Nonveiller, 1979: 173

Distribution. Afrotropical.
