Apteromutilla Ashmead, 1903 . Canad. Ent. 35: 324, 332. Male, female.
Gender. Feminine.
Type species. Mutilla aede Péringuey, 1899 (male), by original designation (misspelled as aeda).
Taxonomic history. Senior subjective synonym of Apterotilla Bischoff, 1920 . Valid generic name.
Sex association. The female was associated by Brothers, 1975: 590 . This was based on comparison between specimens of the type species and of Mutilla aethra Péringuey, 1899 (female) from the same area, having very similar general body form and colour pattern. DJB hereby formally transfers aethra to Apteromutilla . New combination.
Distribution. Afrotropical.
