Type species: Teleosaurus boutilieri EudesDeslongchamps, 1868c (following recommendation 67B of the ICZN Code). Now referred to as Yvridiosuchus boutilieri ( Eudes-Deslongchamps, 1868c) , comb. nov.

Diagnosis: Same as the only known species (monotypic genus).

Etymology: ‘Hybrid crocodile’. Yvrídio (υβρίδιο) is Ancient Greek for ‘hybrid’ (referring to the unique combination of machimosaurin synapomorphies and non-machimosaurin teleosauroid symplesiomorphies present in this genus), and suchus is the Latinized form of the Greek soukhos (σοῦχος), meaning crocodile.
