(b) Subsp. abietinum (Borbas) I. K. Ferguson View in CoL , Bot. Jour. Linn. Soc. 64: 232 (1971)
( V. abietinum Borbas , V. bornmuelleri Velen. ):
Basal leaves 20-40 x 10-25 cm, with petiole 10-30 cm. Inflorescence branched with suberect or ascending branches. • Balkan peninsula, W. & C. Romania. V. hypoleucum Boiss. & Heldr. in Boiss., Diagn. Pl. Or. Nov. 3(3): 147 (1856) (K nigrum subsp. hypoleucum (Boiss. & Heldr.) Nyman ) was described from 2 plants from S. Greece (Killini Oros). They are like 85(b) but with smaller leaves (as in 85(a)), which are sinuately lobed with 4-9 deflate, subentire lobes on each side and are somewhat floccose-tomentose. Until more material is forthcoming their taxonomic status must remain doubtful.
