182. Ficus organensis (Miquel) Miquel. Ann. Mus. Bot. Lugduno-Batavi View in CoL 3(10): 299. 1867. ≡ Urostigma organense Miquel. London J. Bot. View in CoL 6: 547. 1847. TYPE:— BRAZIL. Rio de Janeiro: Organ Mountains, 1837, G. Gardner 620 (lectotype, designated here: K–000442992!; isolectotypes: G–00438254 [digital image!], K–000442993!, NY–00039275!, NY–00039276!, P–00756586!, P– 00756587!).
Nomenclatural notes:— Miquel (1847) described this taxon based on Gardner 620, but did not specify a herbarium, thus making all specimens of that gathering syntypes (ICN, Art. 40.2 Note 1). Berg & Villavicencio (2004) cited a “ holotype ” at K, but since this happened after 1 January 2001 and they did not use the term “designated here” or an equivalent statement as required by Art. 7.11, their citation did not constitute an effective designation of a lectotype. There are two sheets of Gardner 620 in K, each of them bearing its own label and they are not cross-labeled (Art. 8.3), suggesting that both sheets should be treated as duplicates. We designate K000442992 as the lectotype because it represents the most complete and diagnostic specimen.
