Type locality

Cova de la Fou de Montaner [original citation: “cueva de la Fou Montaner, cerca de Vallirana, partido de San Feliu de Llobregat ”].

Type material

Syntypes: MZB 78-1348, MZB 78-1349, MZB 78-1352 / MZB 78-1355 (3 ♂♂, 3 ♀♀), type loc., 28-X-1917, R. Zariquiey leg. (ex coll. R. Zariquiey).

Remarks

Zariquiey (1917) mentions as types a number of specimens but notes subsequently that he collected 13 specimens on 28 October [1917]. He also adds that Jeannel (along with E. G. Racovitza) collected this taxon for the first time in a cave in October 1910. This material is cited by Jeannel (1910b, 1911b, 1924a) and is deposited in the Biospeologica collection (MNHNP) ( Fresneda & Salgado, 2016). In MCNB we have found red printed labels inscribed with “ Typus ” (four specimens) and “Cotypus” (one specimen). We have also found a specimen (MZB 78-1355) with an identical collection label in Zariquiey’s hand-writing that must belong to the type series, although it is not labelled as such. Likewise, we have located in the MNCNM collection (box 28) another specimen with the same collection information. Escolà (1969) mentions a total of 11 specimens whose information corresponds to that of the type series.Another specimen in the MCNB collection (MZB 78-1356), collected by Jeannel in October 1910, according to the label, corresponds to the first specimens that were collected ( Jeannel, 1910b; Zariquiey, 1917).
