Troglocharinus españoli mateui Zariquiey, 1950
Troglocharinus españoli ssp. mateui Zariquiey, 1950: 200 ; figs. 2f, 4f.
Current accepted name
Troglocharinus elongatus mateui Zariquiey, 1950 View in CoL : Fresneda & Salgado, 2016: 189.
Type locality
Cova del Garrofet [original citation: “Prov. de Tarragona: Cova del Garrofet, Santa Agnés, term. municipal de Querol part. Judicial de Montblanch”].
Type material
Syntypes: MZB 71-2367 / MZB 71-2379 (10 ♂♂, 17 ♀♀), type loc., VIII-1934, F. Español leg. (ex coll. R. Zariquiey).
Remarks
Zariquiey (1950) refers to “bastantes ejemplares” [quite a few specimens] from the type locality without specifying the number of specimens in the type series nor establishing the holotype (all originally deposited in the author’s collection). Escolà (1969) mentions a total of 37 specimens with the same collection dates as given by Zariquiey (1950). In the MCNB collection we have found a series of 10 males and 17 females without labels that would identify them as belonging to the type series. The collection dates on their labels, the hand-writing (mostly in the hands of F. Español and R. Zariquiey), and their original deposit in Zariquiey’s collection, nevertheless, indicates that they belong to the type series.
