Thelephoraceae View in CoL View at ENA
Seventeen species of Tomentella have been reported from BC ( Kroeger and Berch 2017) based on vouchered collections and we detected seven species in ECMs of Garry oak on Vancouver Island. Almost all of the species we found are Quercus mycobionts or Fagaceae mycobionts, many of them known from Quercus from California (pers. comm. Roberto Garibay Orijel). Three of these species had previously been reported from BC, Tomentella lilacinogrisea Wakef. , Tomentella cinerascens (P.Karst.) Höhn. & Litsch., 1906 , and Tomentella lapida (Pers.) Stalpers 1984 (99.6–99.8% similar to vouchers identified as T. lapida from Sweden by Koljalg et al. (2000) but 100% identical to TRU83480, a voucher identified as Tomentella ramosissima (Berk. & M.A.Curtis) Wakef., 1962 from CA ( Taylor and Bruns 1997), but the identity of the remaining species is less clear.
