Type locality: Of T. minutus , Tallaboa, near Ponce, Puerto Rico; T. puertoricensis , Guanica, Puerto Rico.
The types of both species were examined and differ only in color. A series of 54 additional specimens from Puerto Rico, most of which were reared from the same dead tree branch (species undetermined), exhibit the reddish coloration of T. puertoricensis , the blackish coloration of T. minutus , and a spectrum of intermediate coloration. Reddish and blackish individuals (representing the two named phenotypes) were observed to copulate with one another under laboratory conditions.
