Diagnosis. The forewing length is 13.5–14.0 mm in males and 15.0 mm in females. Teulisna brevis sp. n. is morphologically most similar to T. swanni sp. n. and the detailed comparison is provided below in the diagnosis of the latter species. The new species is also externally reminiscent of the sympatric T. fimbriata and the identification requires the examination of the genitalia structures. The male genital capsule of T. brevis sp. n. is distinguished from T. fimbriata by the shorter uncus, the shorter pseudoampulla directed more distally, and the markedly narrower distal saccular process. The phallus of T. brevis sp. n. is considerably shorter and distally broader than in T. fimbriata . The vesica shape of T. brevis sp. n. is diagnostic and differs from T. fimbriata in the narrower proximal section lacking diverticula, the long and conical medial diverticulum directed dorsally, and the short distal diverticulum bearing a massive claw-shaped cornutus. The female genitalia of T. brevis sp. n. differ clearly from T. fimbriata in the shorter anterior apophysis, the long and triangular postvaginal plate (it is elliptical in the congener), the narrower pyriform corpus bursae with a gelatinous protrusion situated latero-ventrally on the right side (vs. two broad lateral protrusions laterally on both sides in T. fimbriata ), the lack of the lateral sclerotised pocket, in the right lateral protrusion of the corpus bursae, and the very short appendix bursae situated latero-anteriorly whereas it is well-developed conical and situated latero-ventrally in T. fimbriata .
Distribution. The new species is currently known from Northern Vietnam (Lao Cai and Tuyen Quang Provinces).
Etymology. The specific epithet is a Latin adjectie meaning ‘short’ and refers to the short phallus of the new species.
