Gender. Feminine.
Type species. Tetraphotopsis hubbardi Ashmead, 1903 (male), by original designation (junior subjective synonym of Photopsis venusta Blake, 1886 (male), according to Schuster, 1958: 54). The later designation of Mutilla hubbardii Fox, 1899 (male) by Mickel, 1928: 37 is invalid.
Taxonomic history. Junior subjective synonym of Odontophotopsis Viereck, 1903 according to Schuster, 1958: 54. Subjectively invalid name.
Sex association. The female of the type species has not been recognized; the questionably associated female (for the genus) was described by Ashmead, 1903: 309.
Distribution. Nearctic.
