Speocharis nadali Salgado, 1978 View in CoL ( Figs. 9A–B View FIGURES 9–11 , 51 View FIGURES 50–55 )
Speocharis nadali Salgado, 1978: 16 View in CoL ; fig. 3.
Current accepted name
Cantabrogeus nadali ( Salgado, 1978) View in CoL : Salgado et al., 2008: 222.
Type locality
Cueva de la Cañuela [original citation: “Prov. de Santander: ... Cueva de la Cañuela , cerca de Arredondo, al descender el Puerto de Alisas, en la carretera de la Santander a Ramales”].
Type material
Holotype ♂: MZB 78-2192, type loc., 3/ 5-VIII-1954, Nègre, Dresco & Derouet leg.
Paratypes and possible paratypes: MZB 78-2193 / MZB 78-2198 (5 ♂♂, 7 ♀♀), same data as holotype .
Remarks
According to Salgado (1978) the type series consists of a holotype ♂ and eight paratypes (2 ♂♂ and 6 ♀♀) collected on 3 and 5 August 1954 (Nègre, Dresco & Derouet leg.) and deposited in the MCNB. The material we have found with labels stating that it belongs to the type series corresponds to 13 specimens (6 ♂♂ and 7 ♀♀). Specimen MZB 78-2192 has a red label with the printed inscription “Tipus” and its scientific name hand-written by O. Escolà; the remaining specimens have different kinds of red labels with the type-written inscription “ Paratipo ”.All originate from the type locality according to the capture labels hand-written by the different authors (among them J. M. Salgado). The labels of 3 ♂♂ (including the specimen labelled as “Typus”) and 3 ♀♀ give a collection date of 4 August 1954 (Nègre leg.). All the males except one have labels that indicate that their genitalia were studied or that they were prepared for microscopic study, although none of the genitalia are mounted with their corresponding specimens and none have been found. The characteristics and aspect of most of the the cards on which the specimens are mounted are similar and it is possible that they have been removed from their original pins, re-labelled and mounted on other pins to facilitate their study. Despite the lack of any pertinent documentation or indication, it is possibly that all these specimens were used in the description of this new species .
