Tallos 10-30(50) cm, frecuentemente poco ramificados. Inflorescencia muy laxa. Pedicelos de las flores centrales de hasta 22(33) mm. Cáliz ligeramente contraído en la fructificación, débilmente puberulento, en general rojizo en la parte superior. Limbo de los pétalos de hasta 5 mm, subentero o marginado. Carpóforo de hasta 4,5 mm, glabrescente o débilmente puberulento, sobre todo en la base. Cápsula generalmente inclusa. Semillas reticuladas, finamente tuberculadas. 2 n = 24; n = 12.
Arvense, en suelo generalmente arcilloso. II-VI. W de la región mediterránea, Asia Menor, Egipto, Libia y Lanzarote. S y E de la Península Ibérica , depresión del Ebro y las Baleares. Esp.: A Ab Al B Ca Cs Ge Gr J L Ma Mu Na PM Se T Te V Z.
