Like 6 but stems 20-40(-60) cm, with both short and long patent eglandular hairs; leaves 4-6(-8) cm, ovatetriangular, pubescent; bracts 15-20 mm, equalling or exceeding the flowers, subobtuse. Mountain pastures. C. part of Balkan peninsula, S. W. Romania. Bu Ju Rm. (S. W. Asia.)

Subsp. goulimyi (Rech. fil.) Rech. fil. , Bot. Jahrb. 80: 388 (1961), from S.E. Greece (Evvoia), has the indumentum of 7 but is otherwise perhaps nearer to 6.

S. naxensis Bothmer , Bot. Not. 122: 46 (1969), described from the S. Aegean region (Naxos), has stems with long and short eglandular hairs, and large bracts. It is perhaps referable to 7, and has In = 34.
