Syntypes (1 each at ZMB & BMNH [ Moritz & Fischer 1979; J. G. E. Lewis, pers. comm.]); type locality: La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico.
Original rank: subspecies of S. viridis Say, 1821 . Current rank and status: subspecies of S. viridis Say, 1821 ( Bücherl 1942 a, Shelley 2002).

Distribution: type locality. Maps: none.
Remarks: This name has been spelled as “ storkáni,” but diacritics are not allowed in scientific names (Article 32.5.2); S. v. storkani was omitted by Bücherl (1974). Verhoeff (1934) also proposed two varieties of this race — ouayamas & tropica — that have no standing in nomenclature and are invalid (see ensuing list).
