Holotype (BMNH [J. G. E. Lewis, pers. comm.]; also a putative holotype at OUMNH [D. Mann, pers. comm.); type locality: unknown; cited from Brazil by C. L. Koch (1847, 1863 b) .
Original rank: species. Current rank and status: synonym of S. subspinipes ( Kohlrausch 1878, 1879, 1881; Kraepelin 1903; Brölemann 1909; Attems 1930; Bücherl 1942 a).

Remarks: This name was omitted by Bücherl (1974).
