complanata Newport, 1844:98 View in CoL (1 February, Evenhuis (2003:15)).
Holotype (BMNH [D. Mann, pers. comm.; examined]); type locality: St. Kitts, Lesser Antilles.
Original rank: species. Current rank and status: synonym of S. alternans Leach, 1815 ( Kraepelin 1903; Brölemann 1903; Attems 1930; Bücherl 1939, 1942 a; Shelley 2002). I confirm this synonymy, but the name is a junior primary homonym of S. complanata Latreille, 1816 –1819, occurring in the Mediterranean region of Europe. Remarks: Scolopendra complanata Newport, 1844 , was omitted by Bücherl (1974).
