(6) Sarscypridopsis kurilensis ( Schornikov, 1974) comb. nov.

Upon describing this species Schornikov (1974: 139) stressed its resemblance with Cypridopsis granulata ( Sars, 1903) , a species which is now considered a synonym of S. aculeata (Costa, 1847). In consequence, Cypridopsis kurilensis is here transferred to the genus Sarscypridopsis : Sarscypridopsis kurilensis ( Schornikov, 1974) comb. nov. The species is thus far only known from the Kurile Islands in the Pacific Ocean. It might be identical with S. aculeata , but this needs further investigation.
