San Cristóbal (Lobería) cluster
Samples from the two San Cristóbal clusters form reciprocally monophyletic sister groups in the RADseq tree. They are consistently distinguished from each other in the SNP–PCA and by not sharing mitochondrial haplotypes. Morphological divergence is low, but consistently detectable if analysed sample size is high. We apply the subspecies name A. c. mertensi to the Lobería cluster.
