Subgen. Pteroclados (Boiss.) Pignatti . Annual or perennial herbs. Leaves sinuate or lobed. Ultimate branches of the inflorescence usually expanded into a leaf-like wing subtending the spike. Fruit with distal circumscissile dehiscence.
