Pseudostenoplylax himachalica sp. n.
( Figs. 1–4 View FIGURES 1 – 8 )
Diagnosis. This species closely resembles Pseudostenophylax kashmirensis ( Mosely 1936) in the P. aniketos Group ( Schmid 1991), but its distinctive features include the following: The zone of spicules of tergite VIII is apicodorsally pointed (the zone of spicules of tergite VIII is apicodorsally nearly truncate in P. kashmirensis ); the intermediate appendages are apically triangular in dorsal view and finger-like in lateral view (the intermediate appendages are apically pointed both in dorsal and in lateral views in P. kashmirensis ); the preanal appendages are apically curved upwards in lateral view (the preanal appendages are straight in P. kashmirensis ); the phallus has a small pair of processes at mid length (the phallus has a pair of prominent finger-like processes near mid length in P. kashmirensis ); the parameres are apically beak-like (the parameres are apically dilated in P. kashmirensis ).
Description. Length of each male forewing 16–17 mm (n=3). Body dark brown. Spines on legs blackish, spurs brown. Spur formula 1, 3, 4.
Male genitalia ( Figs. 1–4 View FIGURES 1 – 8 ). Tergite VIII sloping posteroventrad, its zone of spicules concave at its sides, apicoposteriorally produced as subtriangular patch. Segment IX reduced dorsally, moderately developed laterally, more developed and notched apicoventrally. Segment X much reduced. Preanal appendages folded near base in dorsal view, apically cylindrical both in dorsal and lateral views; broad near base, apically curved and pointed upwards in lateral view. Intermediate appendages forming two, antagonistic curved lobes with broadened bases in dorsal view, finger-like and almost vertically produced in lateral view; bi-lobed membranous areas lying below intermediate appendages in dorsal view. Inferior appendages simple, apically rounded, each broad near base in lateral view; in ventral view with apical emargination. Phallus tubular, constricted midway, with two short processes arising at constriction, bearing short hairs in dorsal view. Parameres curved mesad, distal sclerotized part beak-like, strongly setose.
Material examined. Holotype 3. INDIA: Himachal Pradesh, Sathrundi , 2800 m, 12-vi-2011, collector Manpreet S. Pandher . Paratypes: Same data, 33, 2Ƥ .
Etymology. The species epithet is derived from Himachal Pradesh State, where the type specimens were collected.
