Poecilimon bosphoricus bosphoricus Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1878 View in CoL

( Figs. 114–121 View FIGURES 102–124. 102–113 )

Material examined. Turkey: İstanbul Prov., Giöksu [Göksu, Anatolian side] (Bosph.), 1 male ( Nr. 5889) ( Br. v.W.) (Lectotype, here designated), 3 males, 3 females; Therapia [Tarabya, European side], 1 male (Br.v.W.) ( NMW) ; [İstanbul], Giöksu [Göksu] ( Bosph. ), 1 male, 1 female ( MfN) . Ünal 2010: İstanbul Prov., European side, Atatürk Arboretumu , 10.6.2008, 3 males (leg. M. Ünal ) ( AİBÜEM) .

Remarks. Brunner (1878: 43) originally described this species using several males and one female collected from both sides of the Bosphorus in İstanbul. However, additional specimens with the same label have been found in two collections (NMW and MfN), which were labelled as “ paratypes.” Nomenclaturally, these cannot be considered paratypes, as the type specimens remain syntypes. Given that the syntypes were collected from two different locations, it is necessary to fix the type locality. Therefore, one male specimen, numbered 5889, one of the two specimens cited by Brunner (1878: 43), is here designated as lectotype (see also the Introduction and Material and methods sections).

All material, including the type specimens ( Figs. 114–121 View FIGURES 102–124. 102–113 ) at MfN, NMW, and AİBÜEM, has been studied and compared with the newly described species and subspecies, P. ilgazi sp. nov. and P. bosphoricus septemlacus ssp. nov.
