Genus Parableta Brunner-Wattenwyl, 1878 View in CoL

Note. This genus was recently included in the tribe Plagiopleurini ( Cadena-Castañeda 2015c) . However, its relationship to the genus Plagiopleura is problematic, because these genera have very different ovipositors: ovipositor of Parableta is similar to

that of? Scudderiini (i.e. with lateral surfaces lacking

distinct denticles; for comparison see Figs 210, 221 View Figs 206–222 ,

265, 273 View Figs 257–275 , 312, 314, 316, 318 View Figs 311–330 ), but in Plagiopleura , it is

similar to that of Enthephippion (i.e. with lateral sur-

faces having distinct denticles; Figs 237, 240 View Figs 223–240 ). More-

over, stridulatory apparatus in the male tegmina of

Parableta is represented only by a stridulatory vein

in the left (upper) tegmen and by this vein, plectrum

and one of chords in the right (lower) tegmen; all

other parts of the male dorsal tegminal fields have a

dense net of numerous veinlets (practically without

distinct membranous areas: Figs 279, 280, 283, 284, View Figs 276–289

287, 288). Such structure of this apparatus as well

as shape of head and pronotum in the profile ( Fig. View Figs 276–289

276) indicate a possible relationship of Parableta to

Microcentrini Brunner-Wattenwyl, 1878 View in CoL .

In the genus Parableta View in CoL , eight species have been

included (OST); however, these congeners are rather

diverse in the structure of their abdominal apices,

and they are here divided into three subgenera which

are described in the following key for Parableta sub-

genera:

1. Male cerci moderately long, with distal part almost angularly (but at obtuse angle) curved downwards and medially, and with small apical hook directed medially or almost backwards ( Figs 290–295, 297–302, 304– 309 View Figs 290–310 ); male genital plate rather long and comparatively high in profile ( Figs 293, 300, 307 View Figs 290–310 ), with very narrow and very deep posteromedian notch as well as with small apical styles ( Figs 292, 299, 306 View Figs 290–310 )............................................ subgenus Parableta s. str. [Composition: Parableta integricauda Brunner-Wattenwyl, 1878 – type species of Parableta ; P. soror Brunner-Wattenwyl, 1891 ; P. kempfi Piza, 1976 ; P. tapirapes Piza, 1981 ; P. (P.) cercata sp. nov.; P. (P.) nikolai sp. nov.; possibly P. areolata Piza, 1981 and P. (?P.) denticulata sp. nov.]

– Male cerci moderately short; male genital plate distinctly less high, with clearly wider or practically absent posteromedian notch.......................... 2

2. Male genital plate short but with a pair of rather long and thin posterior lobes, with large (deep and moderately wide) notch between them, and with very long but thin styles........ subgenus Stylibleta subgen. nov. [Etymology: from parts of species name “ stylifera ” and generic name “ Parableta ”. Composition: Parableta stylifera Piza, 1981 – type species of Stylibleta .]

– Male genital plate rather long, practically without posteromedian notch, and with small styles................................... subgenus Oscarbleta subgen. nov. [Etymology: after Oscar Cadena-Castañeda (author of type species of this subgenus) and genus Parableta . Composition: Parableta maculosa Cadena-Castañeda, 2015 – type species of Oscarbleta .]
