Diagnosis
Head yellowish brown to dark brown; vertex dark brown, anteriorly with a pale transversal band (faded in holotype). Pronotum brown with some irregularly shaped dark brown markings. Wings infuscate, subcostal area yellowish brown. Fore wing with some indistinct brownish bands ( Figure 1A View Figure 1 ); gradate series area to apex with three to four transversely arranged dots, dots at outer gradate series large, dots at inner gradate series tiny; markings at distal ma-mp, mp-cua, and cua-cup distinct. Male tergum 9 with a long triangular process, nearly twice as long as wide in lateral view;gonocoxites 9 with two pairs of tubercles, posterior pair larger and digitiform, anterior pair smaller and subtriangular in lateral view, nearly M-shaped in ventral view;gonocoxites10 curved roundly;ectoproct subtriangular in lateral view.Female sternum 7 without processes; anterior branch of tergum 9 ossiform in ventral view; in ventral view gonocoxite 9 fused as a slender fusiform structure, with anterior angle triangular. Spermatheca simple and rounded.
Description
Head width 2.4 mm; fore wing length 27.4 mm; hind wing length 23.8 mm.
Head. ( Figure 6C View Figure 6 ) Yellowish brown to dark brown, faded in holotype. Vertex dark brown, anteriorly with a pale transversal band, hairless. Ocelli distinct, forming a sagittal dark brown marking with yellowish-brown long setae. Scape dark brown, pedicel black; flagellum black, filiform. Frons yellowish brown,laterally with a pair of indistinct dark brown markings. Clypeus yellow, lateral margin with a pair of dark dots, covered with some yellowish-brown setae. Mandibles basally brown, distally dark brown. Maxillary and labial palpi yellowish brown.
Thorax. ( Figure 6B View Figure 6 ) Pronotum brown with some irregularly shaped dark brown markings. Meso- and metanotum brown with some dark brown markings, covered with many dark setae.
Legs. Long and slender, yellow, covered with short setae. Tibia nearly twice as long as femur, tarsomere 1 relatively longer, nearly as long as entire length of tarsomeres 2–4; pretarsal claws curved. Metatibia longer than that of fore- and midlegs.
Wings. Ovoid, infuscate with some markings. Pterostigma dark brown alternating with pale. Fore wing gradate series area to apex with three to four transversely arranged dots, dots at outer gradate series large, dots at inner gradate series tiny; markings at distal ma-mp, mp-cua, and cua-cup distinct; costal space broad basally, subcostal veinlets basally connected by some short oblique crossveins; subcostal area yellowish brown; RP with 14–15 branches; RP1 originating near origin of RP, M fork close to origin of RP1; RP with two distinct gradate series, CuP with numerous crossveins; A1 and A2, with pectinate branches and crossveins. Apex of hind wing with a dot. Hind wing subcostal area yellowish brown; subcostal veinlets without interlinked crossvein.
Abdomen. Dark brown, covered with yellowish-brown setae. Male genitalia ( Figure 6D, E View Figure 6 ): Tergum 8 long; scent gland large and ovoid; callus cerci relatively large and ovoid. Tergum 9 with a long triangular process, nearly twice as long as wide in lateral view. Gonocoxites 9 slightly sclerotised distally, with two pairs of tubercles, posterior pair larger and digitiform, anterior pair smaller and subtriangular in lateral view, nearly M-shaped in ventral view; gonocoxites 10 ( Figure 14D View Figure 14 ) hook-like, curved roundly. Ectoproct subtriangular in lateral view. Female genitalia ( Figure 6F, G View Figure 6 ): Sternum 7 without processes; gonocoxite 8 small. Tergum 9 branched ventrad; anterior branch ossiform in ventral view. Gonocoxite 9 in ventral view as a slender fusiform structure, with anterior angle triangular. Ectoproct subtriangular in lateral view. Spermatheca simple and rounded ( Figure 14M View Figure 14 ).
Type material
Holotype ♂, CHINA: Yunnan, Nujiang, Lushui, Pianma Town [片马镇], 2100–2400 m, 29 August–5 September 2023, leg. Yuchen Zheng ( CAU) . Paratypes: 1♂ 1♀, same as holotype ( CAU).
Distribution
China (Yunnan).
Etymology
This new species is named after the mountain it inhabits, ie Mt. Gaoligong.
Remarks
This species can be distinguished from the other species of the O. hayalinus group by the following characters: fore wing inner margin with some indistinct brownish bands, markings at distal ma-mp, mp-cua, and cua-cup distinct but Cu area lacking markings, process of male tergum 9 nearly twice as long as wide in lateral view, and female sternum 7 lacking processes.
