Type species. Mutilla (Sphaeropthalma) sanbornii Blake, 1871 (male), by original designation.
Taxonomic history. Junior subjective synonym of Ephuta Say, 1836 according to André, 1902c: 51. Res- urrected to generic status by Ashmead, 1903: 307. Junior subjective synonym of Pseudomethoca Ashmead, 1896 according to Mickel, 1924: 5. Subjectively invalid name.
Sex association. The female of the type species was associated and described by Mickel, 1924: 37.
Distribution. Nearctic.
