Lamproclytus oakleyi Fisher 1935:52 , new synonymy
Type locality: Of L. elegans , Bayamon, Puerto Rico ; L. oakleyi , Ponce, Puerto Rico .
Both of these species were originally described from a single individual. The L. elegans type is black and partly brownish yellow; that of L. oakleyi uniformly reddish brown. This is the main difference separating them, according to Fisher (1935). Both types were examined and compared with a series of 14 other Puerto Rican Lamproclytus specimens, in which the range of variation in color encompasses the differences cited within the original descriptions for separating the two taxa.
