Type locality: Kyushu , Japan
Type host: Capricornis crispus
Comments: the type specimens of Haemaphysalis japonica were found in a vial labeled Haemaphysalis flava that contained Haemaphysalis flava and Haemaphysalis campanulata as well as the types of Haemaphysalis japonica , as discussed in Yamaguti et al. (1971).
