231. Ficus speciosa Rojas Acosta. Bull. Géogr. Bot. View in CoL 28: 160. 1918. TYPE:— ARGENTINA. Chaco: Quitilipi, Anonymous s.n. (holotype: LIL [presumed lost]). NEOTYPE:— ARGENTINA. Guaraní: Misiones , 26°54’–59’ S 54 °12’–18’W, 24 April 1999, S. Tressens et al. 6112 (neotype, designated here: ASU–0045170 [digital image!]).
Nomenclatural notes:— Rojas (1918) described this taxon but did not designate a type or herbarium. Berg & Villavicencio (2004) were not able to trace original material in any herbaria. After reviewing type material from different herbaria in America and Europe, we weren’t able to locate any sheet associated with this name. It is likely that the sheet was lost. We designate ASU0045170 as the neotype.
