62. Ficus diabolica fo. minor Herter. Revista Sudamer. Bot. View in CoL 6: 151. 1940. TYPE:— URUGUAY. Costa del Rio Uruguay, Tambien Entre Rios, Lorentz s.n. (B [presumed destroyed]). NEOTYPE:— URUGUAY. San Pedro: around Ybapobo, 23°34’41”S 057°09’05”W, 2 March 2001, E.M. Zardini & L. Guerrero 56454 (neotype, designated here: MW–0581608 [digital image!]).
Nomenclatural notes:— Herter (1940) described this taxon based on a Lorentz collection in “Herb. Berl.” (B). After reviewing material at B, we weren’t able to locate the sheet associated with this name. It is likely that the sheet was destroyed during World War II and no other original material was found. We designate a collection from the type locality as neotype, which is congruent with the protologue (MW0581608).
