Distribution in South Africa: Eastern Cape

Specimens examined: Eswatini, from Pinus sp. , 28 November 2019, Leg. D. Herron, Det. W. J. Nel [ FABI]. East London , Eastern Cape, South Africa, 33°01'S, 27°55'E, February 1949, from logs imported from Georgia, USA. (5 specimens) [ SANC] GoogleMaps .

Notes: Our record from Eswatini (prev. Swaziland) represents a new record for Eswatini and Southern Africa. The species identification was based on molecular data. The specimens from South Africa are suggestive of an interception, although this species is not known in the United States, and the logs may have been infested from elsewhere. Given the distribution, it is likely that this species is present in South Africa, but we are unable to find any additional records for that.
