2. Dactylorhiza sect. Iberanthus (Schltr.) Smoljaninova (1976: 51) ; Soó (1960: 336), comb. inval. (Art. 41.5).
Type:— Orchis iberica M.Bieb. ex Willd.
≡ Orchis sect. Iberanthus Schltr. in Keller & Schlechter (1928: 160). ≡ Dactylorchis sect. Iberanthus (Schltr.) Vermeulen (1947: 65) .
= Orchis View in CoL [sect. Herorchis] sect. Ibericae Reichenbach (1851: 15, 34). Type: O. angustifolia M.Bieb. View in CoL (= Dactylorhiza iberica (M.Bieb. ex Willd.) Soó View in CoL ).
= Orchis View in CoL [subgen. Dactylorchis View in CoL ] subsect. Conniventes Camus, Bergon & Camus (1908: 164). ≡ Orchis View in CoL [subgen. Dactylorchis View in CoL ] sect. Conniventes (E.G.Camus, Bergon & A.Camus) Keller & Soó (1932: 131). Type: O. iberica View in CoL .
This sectional name may be changed depending on the interpretation of the rank of Reichenbach’s name Ibericae. The problem is that in the discussions of another group of the same rank, Latifoliae, Reichenbach used words “…hujus sectionis…” which may be interpreted in a way that Latifoliae , and, by analogy, Ibericae represent sections. Both were included in higher rank sections ( Androrchis and Herorchis, respectively), which is incorrect in the sense of the modern nomenclature, but all names are nevertheless valid according to the note 1 of Art. 37.7, and name sect. Ibericae should replace sect. Iberanthus (the corresponding new combination, Dactylorhiza sect. Ibericae , has not yet been published). However, I consider that the words “…hujus sectionis…” do not refer to a taxonomic name but rather should be translated as “…of this group…”: sectional rank, if employed, was indicated by Reichenbach clearly and unambiguously (as for Androrchis and Herorchis).
1 species: Dactylorhiza iberica (M.Bieb. ex Willd.) Soó.
3. Dactylorhiza sect. Sambucinae (Parl.) Smoljaninova (1976: 52) ; Soó (1960: 336), comb. inval. (Art. 41.5); Baumann & Künkele (1981: 460), comb. illeg. superfl.
Type:— Orchis sambucina L.
≡ Orchis View in CoL [stat. indef.] Sambucinae Parlatore (1858: 512). ≡ Orchis View in CoL [subgen. Dactylorchis View in CoL ] subsect. Sambucinae (Parl.) Camus, Bergon & Camus (1908: 165). ≡ Orchis View in CoL [subgen. Dactylorchis View in CoL ] sect. Sambucinae [‘ Sambucini’] (E.G.Camus, Bergon & A.Camus) Keller & Soó (1932: 131). ≡ Dactylorchis sect. Sambucinae (Parl.) Vermeulen (1947: 65) .
= Dactylorhiza sect. Romanae Klein & Strack in Strack et al. (1989: 2136). Type: D. romana (Sebast.) Soó. View in CoL
– Orchis sect. Schlechteranthus Nevski (1935: 701) , nom. inval. (descr. ross.).
4 species: Dactylorhiza cantabrica H.A.Pedersen View in CoL , D. insularis (Sommier ex Martelli) Landwehr View in CoL , D. romana (Sebast.) Soó View in CoL (3 subspecies), D. sambucina View in CoL (L.) Soó.
