Remarks: Original type material comprised of a male adult specimen in good condition. The holotype is a male specimen as Guimarães (1984) indicated, contrary to the taxonomic notation in the revision of Guimarães & Papavero (1999: 204). The female paratype from Ponta Grossa, Paraná, Brazil mentioned by Guimarães (1984: 26) is deposited at the Smithsonian Institution [USNMENT 01492823] with the following data labels: (1) “2 - 40” [handwritten vertically] | “P. Nomenclatural status: Valid as Cuterebra sabroskyi ( Guimarães, 1984) .
