Comments: Distinguished from similarly-shaped Cosmarium species by possessing only a single pyrenoid per semicell. Typically found in small bodies of oligotrophic water with low pH; including rice fields in the tropics Croasdale & Flint (1988).

Distribution: Cosmopolitan. A new record for Indonesia.
