Notes: Cortinarius tropicus occurs in the subalpine ranges of the tropics and subtropics of China, with small basidiomata, a fibrillose disc on the pileal surface that ranges from violet to dark violet and is nearly glabrous. The basidiospores are subglobose to broadly ellipsoid. It is usually scattered or gregarious on the ground dominated by Fagaceae .
