Notes:— In their taxonomic studies of C. sect. Xerocalyx ( sensu Irwin & Barneby 1982 ), Fernandes & Nunes (2005) proposed that some varieties within the Chamaecrista ramosa View in CoL complex should be elevated to species rank. Among these is Chamaecrista ramosa var. curvifolia View in CoL , characterized by its distinctly small leaflets and prominently curved venation. However, when making the species combination, the authors failed to cite in their reference the page number where the basionym is described, contrary to Article 41.5 of the ICN ( Turland et al. 2018). Therefore, we propose here a new combination following the species concept adopted by Fernandes & Nunes (2005). Here we also include C. ramosa var. lucida View in CoL within the circumscription of C. curvifolia View in CoL , due to the former having leaflets with curved venation. However, the leaflets of C. ramosa var. lucida View in CoL are slightly larger than those of C. ramosa var. curvifolia View in CoL ( C. ramosa var. curvifolia View in CoL : 2.5–7.5 mm; C. ramosa var. lucida View in CoL : 9–17 mm) (H.S. Irwin & Barneby 1982). For further information on the species, including its description, morphology, images and distribution, see Fernandes & Nunes (2005) and Rando et al. (2020).
