Gloniaceae View in CoL View at ENA and Hyaloscyphaceae
A sequence clustering with Hyaloscypha was detected in Garry oak ECMs at Duncan (DN), BC. Fehrer et al. (2019) explored the phylogeny and ecology of the root-symbiotic Rhizoscyphus ericae (D.J.Read) W.Y.Zhuang & Korf (= Hyaloscypha hepaticola (Grelet & Croz.) Baral, Huhtinen & J.R. De Sloover, 2009 ) aggregate; some fungi in this group appear to be endophytic in roots or ECMs, some form ericoid mycorrhizas, and some seem to form ECMs. Fehrer et al. (2019) described several Hyaloscypha species isolated from Cenococcum -like ECMs; we frequently observed Cenococcum ECMs on Garry oak in Oregon and BC. Whether the Hyaloscypha -like fungus we detected formed ECMs with Garry oak or was endophytic in ECMs of Garry oak is not known from our work.
