Type locality

Cueva de San Roque [original citation: “... cueva de San Roque , à Valle (provincia de Santander)”].

Type material

Syntypes: MZB 78-2229 (1 ♂, 1 ♀), type loc., VIII-1909, H. Breuil leg. (ex coll. R. Zariquiey).

Remarks

The type series consists of a large number of specimens ( Jeannel, 1909) originally deposited in the Biospeologica collection ( Jeannel, 1924a). The specimens in the MCNB (mounted on the same pin) have a label with the determination followed by the term “ TYPE ” hand-written in red letters, and hand-written collection labels. In box 55 of the general collection of the MNHNP we have found a pin with a number of labels including the three original labels associated with the specimens MZB 78-2229, all identical and written by the same hand. Of note too, is a red label with the inscription “ TYPE ” printed in black letters. In the same collection we have found a second pin bearing a white label printed with “ TYPE ” in red letters. Otherwise, in the MNCNM collection (box 14) we have found a specimen labelled as a cotype (a white label with the hand-written inscription “Co TYPE ” in red, followed by another a red label with the printed inscription “Cotipo”). These specimens’ collection labels are identical to those of the specimens MZB 78-2229. It is worth noting that the collector of the specimens does not figure on the capture labels of the studied material (instead, the inscription “R. Jeannel” appears printed).
