Type locality

Cueva de Landarbaso [original citation: “Provincia de Guipúzcoa : cueva de Landarbaso (término municipal de Rentería, partido de San Sebastián )”].

Type material

Paratypes: MZB 78-2239 (1 ♂), type loc., 18-VIII-1919, H. Breuil & R. Jeannel leg. (ex coll. R. Zariquiey).

Remarks

Bolívar (1921) cites various specimens collected by H. Breuil and R. Jeannel on 18 August 1919 deposited in the Bioespeologica collection and in the Madrid Museum. The author originally designated a male holotype using the term “Tipo” (Article 73.1.1.), indicating that it was deposited in the Biospeologica collection. Fresneda & Salgado (2006) studied three and two specimens from the type series, deposited, respectively, in the MNHNP general collection (box 60) and the MNCNM (box 16). The inscription on their labels is transcribed by Fresneda & Salgado (2006, 2016). The specimens in the MNCNM collection (male and female) were not originally identified as belonging to the type series. The male MZB 78-2239 has collection labels that are identical to those of the other collections mentioned here, with the inscription “TYPE” in red letters on a white label. Although the holotype was deposited in the Biospeologica collection, we are not aware that it has been located or identified from amongst the specimens from the MNHNP ( Fresneda & Salgado, 2006 refer to the group of studied specimens as a type series).
