In his description of this species, Diakonoff (1964) reported specimens from the southeastern U.S.A. (Florida), the Caribbean ( Dominica, Cuba, Jamaica), Central America ( Panama), and western Africa. Like most species of Bactra , the host is reported to be Cyperus species ( Cyperaceae ) ( Diakonoff 1964, Keeley et al. 1970, Roditakis et al. 2016).
Specimens examined: Honduras: Dept. Comayagua, Comayagua, 8 Apr 1980 (1♂), S. Passoa ( SCPC).
