Aureoboletus singeri (Gonz.-Velázq. & R. Valenz.) Har. Takah. & Taneyama View in CoL , The fungal flora in southwestern
Japan, Agarics and boletes 1: 19 (2016)
Synonyms: Boletellus singeri Gonz.-Velázq. & R. Valenz. [as ‘ singerii’], Mycotaxon 55: 400 (1995)
Aureoboletus singeri View in CoL resembles Aureoboletus viscosus View in CoL and A. longicollis View in CoL in having velar remnants at pileus margin, viscid pileus surface, and similar colors ( Halling & Ortiz-Santana 2009). However, Halling et al. (2015) proved that A. singeri View in CoL still belongs to Boletellus View in CoL and is separated from members of Aureoboletus View in CoL . However, the assignment of this species to Aureoboletus View in CoL in the phylogenetic tree of Kuo & Ortiz-Santana (2020) and Ayala-Vásquez et al. (2023) seems quite plausible.
Aureoboletus elvirae Ayala-Vásquez, García-Jiménez & de la Fuente, based on a single specimen, is presently keyed out. It should also be pointed out that according to MycoBank the name status of this species is invalid Art. F.5.1 (Shenzhen)
Aureoboletus abruptibulbus (Roody, Both & B. Ortiz) G. Wu & Zhu L. Yang is undoubtedly to be settled by molecular genetic comparison on the edge of the genus Aureoboletus and probably not to be regarded as a typical representative of this genus.
Aureoboletus shichianus (Teng & L. Ling) G. Wu & Zhu L. Yang , similarly to the previous species, is completely isolated not only macroscopically (pores, habitus) but also microscopically (spore ornamentation).
