Smooth Alligatorfish. To 15 cm ( 6 in) TL ( Hart 1973). Aleutian Islands at Petrel Bank (Mecklenburg et al. 2002) to Point Arena, northern California ( Eschmeyer and Herald 1983). Benthic; depth: 2 m ( 7 ft) or less to 465 m ( 1,525 ft) (min.: Read 1968; max.: NWFSC-FRAM).
