Gender. Feminine.

Type species. Mutilla melicerta Smith, 1855 (male), by original designation.

Taxonomic history. Junior subjective synonym of Dasylabris Radoszkowski, 1885 according to André, 1902c: 65. Resurrected to generic status by Ashmead, 1904: 5, 6. Junior subjective synonym of Dasylabris Radoszkowski, 1885 according to André, 1904a: 39. Subjectively invalid name.

Sex association. The female of the type species has not been recognized.

Distribution. Afrotropical.
