Remarks

Al-Ali (1977) recorded this species as widespread in Iraq. We have not examined any specimens of this species from Iraq and the taxonomy of this taxon has long been confused and only recently resolved ( Schmid-Egger et al. 2017), but given its presence in Turkey and Azerbaijan, its presence in at least northern Iraq is plausible. The southernmost records are likely to be attributable to P. mongolicus , newly recorded from Iraq in this note, but it is impossible to confirm this without re-examining the specimens.

Italy, Croatia, Slovenia, Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, Azerbaijan, Iraq ( Schmid-Egger et al. 2017, 2021).
