Literature records
Morice (1921); Derwesh (1965), mentioning ‘Survey of Iraq Fauna, 1915–1919’.
Remarks
We have examined no specimens of this species from Iraq. Morice (1921) recorded this species from Amarah under the name Odynerus crenatus Lepeletier , currently regarded as a synonym. As evidenced by Selis et al. (2024b), Euodynerus variegatus is a mainly western and southern Mediterranean species, barely reaching the Levant in the east; therefore, its presence in Iraq is improbable. Morice’s records likely belong to the similar E. disconotatus , recorded from Iraq by Giordani Soika (1970).
