Type locality. Coşteiu de Sus ( Romania), Făget Basin .

Type stratum. Silt and clay of the Dej Formation.

Age. Middle Miocene, early/middle Badenian (Langhian).

Etymology. Referring to the aesthetic appearance of the species, which was overlooked so far in the collections.

Diagnosis. Small, stout ovate shell with globose last whorl; regular sculpture of well-developed and differentiated P1–P6 and s1–s6 with slightly more prominent P5 at position of delicate labral tooth. Siphonal canal closed, short, outer lip with subobsolete ID and prominent D1–D6.

Description. Small, stout fusiform shell with conical spire; apical angle ~62°. Protoconch unknown. Teleoconch of up to six whorls; suture moderately incised, linear to shallowly undulating. Early teleoconch whorls convex with weak shoulder. Cancellate sculpture of 10–12 prominent axial ribs overrun by weak IP and prominent P1 and P2. Later spire whorls convex with indistinct shoulder. Axial ribs broad, overrun by subequal IP, abis, P1, s1, P2. Last whorl attaining ~70–73% of total height; weakly inflated with convex periphery, strongly constricted at base. Axial sculpture of up to nine broad, prominent, prosocline, convex ribs, fading on base, arranged in opisthocyrt spirals in apical view. Spiral sculpture of adis, IP, abis, P1–P6, s1–s6, s6 on siphonal canal, ads and ms occasional, ADP, MP, ABP and EAB1 of subequal strength with one delicate, granulose tertiary thread in interspaces. P5 slightly more prominent, delimiting base. Fasciole swollen, twisted, delimiting very broad, shallow pseudoumbilicus. Aperture ovate; outer lip thickened, with delicate labral tooth on P5. Subosolete ID and prominent D1–D6 placed slightly behind peristome. Anal canal weakly incised; siphonal canal moderately long, closed, slightly bent to the left, dorsally recurved. Columella deeply excavated in adapical half, smooth, twisted at siphonal canal. Columellar callus forming broad rim, sharply delimited from base, adherent in parietal area.

Discussion. Ocinebrina bellissima sp. nov. is morphologically closely related to Ocinebrina landaui Kovács, 2019 and could be mistaken for juvenile specimen of the latter species. However, it is much smaller at same growth stage, has a much weaker labral tooth, and a weaker P5.

Paleoenvironment. Unknown.

Distribution in Central Paratethys. Făget Basin: Coşteiu de Sus ( Romania) (hoc opus).
