Type material. The syntypes from the Burdigalian of Termô-Fôurà ( Italy) were stored in the Rovasenda collection, which was transferred to the Museum of Geology and Paleontology in Torino ( Ferrero Mortara et al. 1981: 17). The specimens are lost ( Merle et al. 2011: 454) because a large part of this collection was destroyed ( Merlino & Campanino (2002: 8).

Revised description. Large, solid, slender fusiform, trivaricate shell with high spire; apical angle ~40°. Protoconch not preserved in Paratethyan material; conical of two smooth whorls with faint angulation above abapical suture based on specimens from France ( Lozouet 2023: pl. 22, figs 11–12). Teleoconch of up to seven whorls. Suture strongly undulating, moderately incised. Early teleoconch whorls convex with three narrow, strongly raised varices, starting on second teleoconch whorl, one intervarical knob placed mid-whorl. Spiral sculpture largely reduced except for subosolete P1 and P2 on late spire whorls. Varices axially aligned, offset by about 22° between whorls. Last whorl attaining ~68% of total height, moderately convex with indistinct shoulder, weakly constricted. Three foliaceous varices and one weak intervarical rib forming weak knobs at intersections with P1–P3. Spiral sculpture of broad, low P1–P6, ADP, MP,ABP, developed mainly on varices. No secondary cords. Terminal varix slightly flaring. Fasciole moderately swollen, delimiting moderately broad, shallow pseudoumbilicus. Aperture narrowly ovate; outer lip thickened, with weakly crenulate edge, with prominent D1–D6 placed some distance behind peristome, D4 bifid; interspaces between denticles abapically narrowing. Anal canal broadly U-shaped; siphonal canal long, open but extremely narrow, straight, with very broad terminal varix. Columella straight, smooth. Columellar callus forming broad rim, sharply delimited, erect at siphonal canal, adherent and expanding in parietal area.
Discussion. Lozouet et al. (2001) and Merle et al. (2011) reported the Proto-Mediterranean Timbellus perlongus ( Bellardi, 1873) also from the northeastern Atlantic. The Middle Miocene Paratethyan specimens are stratigraphically slightly younger and have a slightly higher spire but sculpture and apertural features agree fully with the Early Miocene specimens. Timbellus perlongus differs from other Paratethyan congeners in its large-sized, thicker shell with a somewhat distorted outline.
Paleoenvironment. Shallow marine, inner neritic.
Distribution in Central Paratethys. Badenian (Middle Miocene): Korytnica Basin: Korytnica ( Poland) ( Bałuk 1995); Pannonian Basin: Letkés ( Hungary) ( Kovács et al. 2018); Făget Basin: Lăpugiu de Sus ( Romania) ( Kovács 2019).
Proto-Mediterranean Sea. Burdigalian (Early Miocene): Colli Torinesi: Termô-Fôurà ( Italy) ( Bellardi 1873).
Northeastern Atlantic. Aquitanian/Burdigalian (Early Miocene): Aquitaine Basin: Léognan, Meilhan, Mérignac, Saint-Martin d’Oney, Saint-Paul-lès-Dax, Saucats ( France) ( Lozouet et al. 2001; Lozouet 2023).
